30 great questions every employee survey needs

Employee surveys are a part of every organization now. it serves more than one purpose but are we asking the right questions to our employees? This blog will give the ten metrics that will help any leader or a manager understand where their employees stand in these effective metrics.

A question that almost every manager ponders about is, “How do I motivate my employees?”. There is a solid correlation between employee motivation and productivity. So how do you do it?

4. Management support

Managers play a huge part of how the employees function in an organization and their overall experience with the organization. So, it becomes an important to know their attitude and opinions about the management and see how comfortable they are with sharing their point of view with the management.

Here are some questions that can help the management gauge that,

- Are you happy with the management support here?

- Has your manager helped you to succeed to your current position?

- How serious do you think management is about your feedback?

5. Growth

Everyone strives to be the best versions of themselves and if they don’t receive the returns in the end, they will be disappointed. A person’s interests also plays an important role in the direction of the growth in their career. Employees are more willing to put in that extra effort when they are working with something they like and interests them.

Here are some questions that will be a great add to understand what your employees’ goals are,

- What are your personal and professional goals for the next year?

- How much do you think your work affects the growth of the organization?

- Do you believe you will be able to reach your full potential here?

6. Recognition

Recognition is not limited to annual reviews and some celebratory functions. Recognition builds the confidence the employee have in their work and their perception on their growth. A quick appreciation is more than enough to motivate the employee to put in twice the effort in future to make their work exemplar.

- How well does management recognize your accomplishments?

- How would you rate your freedom to make decisions autonomously?

- Would you recommend your company to your friends?

7. Culture

A person spends a significant amount of their time in the office. This makes their workplace more than just a desk and a chair. It becomes their source of creativity and a place of collaboration with their colleagues. Workplace culture has a huge influence over how employees feel and the quality of work they contribute.

It also decides the overall value of the organization and how motivated the employees are.

- What benefits would you like to receive from the company?

- How inspired to work do you feel after long meetings?

- How likely is your organization to prevent employees from discrimination?

8. Peer Relationship

Everyone needs a friend at work. On one hand it becomes boring and lonely after a while without talking to anyone at work and on the other, our team are primary motivators to finish projects successfully and to get through obstacles.

It is important for employees to feel accepted at work. Here are three questions gauge that in your organization,

- Does your team inspire you to do your best work?

- Are your opinions welcome within your team?

- Do you feel like coworkers give each other respect here?

9. Environment

The workplace culture has a distinct effect on motivation. A workplace obviously forms the major part of the employees’ psyche and creates the pulse at which the organization continues to grow in the industry. It influences how employees function and how they respond to situations, stress and other requests.

These questions help you determine if the environment in your organization is conducive and favorable.

10. Autonomy

Autonomy is an important part of the employees’ experience with the organization. No employee wants a hovering managers shadowing their every decision and move. They should be given the freedom to make some decisions which aligns with the vision of the organization.
